Not all Deferred Revenue or Prepayments can be released on a straight line or per day basis. For example if you're working with projects, often costs and revenues are recognised according to the % complete or the % of costs spent so far.
If you need to release varying amounts each period, then ad-hoc amounts, % Costs / Revenues or % Complete may be the best schedule options for you.
If you select one of the Ad-Hoc schedules and click the approve button, you will see a green pop up at the top of the screen:
Clicking the Adjust Release Amounts button will take you straight to the transaction in the relevant schedule, where you can input the amounts (for Ad-Hoc Amounts):
or the %s (for % Complete or % Costs / Revenues):
Don't forget to hit save in the bottom left corner when you're done:
If you don't want to input the amounts or %s immediately, you can continue reviewing transactions in your inbox and whenever you're ready, head to the schedule, find the relevant transaction and click the edit icon next to the transaction details:
to open up the input boxes. Follow the same steps as above and don't forget to hit save!
As the months pass and you know the future release amounts, you can just come to the schedule and use the edit icon to input the details.
Note: You don't need to know the total release amounts upfront. You can't release more than is available, but you can release less, leaving room for future release amounts or %s when this information becomes available.
