How to use custom recharge periods (i.e. not monthly)

When you want to run recharges weekly, fortnightly, or on a 4-4-5 basis

Written by Jack Thiel

If you want to run recharges on any period other than monthly, you will want to use the 'custom' recharge period functionality.

This is helpful when you want to run recharges weekly, fortnightly, or on a 4-4-5 basis.

How to select a custom date range

This is available from inside the Recharger dashboard.

When you click "+ New Recharge" you'll be taken to a page to build your recharge. In the date dropdown menu you will see an option for Custom date range where you can select the date range you want to recharge:

Important considerations

When running recharges using custom dates (i.e. not month by month), its important to note:

  • If you are running recharges multiple times per month, its unlikely your accounting file will be "locked" after your recharges are run. This means there is an increased likelihood of 'late' transactions coming in and being missed from your recharges.

  • You can run multiple recharges for the same period. Simply create a new recharge for the same date range and Mayday will only pick up transactions not already included in your previous run.

Using custom recharge periods with Google Sheets

Refer to this article on how to use Google sheets for recharging for more information on setting up Google Sheets.

If you're using this approach, just note that each column heading in the Google Sheet will have a date (i.e. 30-Apr-2024 in screenshot below).

If you are running your recharges on a custom date range, i.e. 1st to 7th of June, and you want certain data to be captured in that period, just be sure to update the column heading as required, like so:
