If something changes in your schedule which means the journal needs to be updated, we will notify you by turning that month from green to gold in the schedule (see January):

and there will also be a banner warning you something has changed and needs to be updated when you open up the journal:

Updating a journal in an unlocked period

Once you have reviewed the changes and you're happy everything is now correct, you can simply open up the journal and click the Update button. The date and time stamp will be updated to reflect the updated posting and the month will turn back to green:

Updating a journal in a locked period

If your period is locked and you do not want to unlock it and change the numbers, you can choose to update the journal on a date outside of the locked period.

In this instance, when you click update, a journal will be created on the given date for the delta between the original and the current data and an additional time and date stamp will appear, with a new deep link out to the additional journal:

This will trigger an adjustment line in the schedule so that you can see the transactions being released in the correct period and also still reconcile back to Xero. For more information see this helpful article on How the adjustment line works
