Step 4: Post the accruals journal

Post your accruals and reversals back to the accounting file

Written by Andrea Sellers

Once you're happy all accruals and reversals have been reviewed and everything in the schedule or summary looks correct, you're ready to post the journal!

Simply click the View Journals button in the top right of the screen (or the relevant month in the schedule) which will open a window showing the journal required for each month, based on the information in the schedule:

You can choose to post the journal as draft or posted and at a transaction or nominal level, depending on the granularity of detail you want to include in the journal.

Once you post the journal, a deep link will appear with a date and time stamp, which will take straight to the journal in your accounting file:

If you need to edit your accruals after posting the journal, simply head back to the journal once you're done making the changes and you can one click update the journal in your accounting file using the Update button:

Note: The month of the journal will turn green once everything is posted and in sync with your accounting file. If the month appears gold then it means something has changed and you simply need to update the journal. For more information on making changes to and updating journals, see this helpful article
