How to create a single journal for multiple one-sided transactions

A way to link multiple transactions to one single journal in Balancer

Written by Grace Benedek Rooney

Currently, Mayday does not support direct multi-selection of one-sided transactions to create a single journal out of the box.

However, if you have multiple one-sided transactions that you want to resolve with one single journal entry, you can achieve this by grouping them first.

Follow the step-by-step workaround below.

Step by step guide

  1. Go to the Balancer dashboard

  2. Expand the intercompany loan

  3. Click "See transaction details"

  4. Find the multiple one-sided transactions in the loan that you want to resolve

  5. Click on the "Fix this match" spanner icon next to any one of the relevant transactions to open the matching and adjustment options.

  6. Check the boxes next to all the transactions you wish to combine (ensuring they are all on the same side of the loan/balance).

  7. Click "Group Transactions" button in the top right to bundle these individual items together into a single grouped transaction. Once the transactions are grouped, the system will treat them as a combined total amount.

  8. Review the changes you've made then click "Save Overrides" at the bottom of the screen. There will be a yellow clock on the left side of the table showing where changes have been made but not saved. You'll then be redirected back to the transactions page.

  9. Click on the "Create journal" pencil icon so you can create and then post your journal
