How to use Mayday HQ to align Tracking Categories across your orgs

The Tracking Categories page allows you to view and modify the set of Tracking Categories in each org within your group. Once you've chosen an org to be Primary, Mayday HQ compares every other org to the Tracking Categories and Tracking Options in the Primary and shows you where they align and where they differ.

In the above example, we can see that every org has all the options set for the "Departments" category, but only some entities have the options for "Mayday Entities" configured.

We can resolve this in a few ways:

  • We can create a particular option in each org using this option from the left-hand cell:

  • We can create a specific option by clicking on that cell:

  • Where an org has room (i.e. it has 0 or 1 active Tracking Category currently), we can create a missing Category and all its Options in one-go using the red cross highlighted here:

Clicking "Save Tracking Categories" will write the changes back to Xero.

Editing Tracking Categories and Options

By clicking the pencil in the left-hand column for a Tracking Category, we can edit that category in each org which has it:

We can do the same for an option:

Creating Tracking Categories and Options

Xero has a limit of only two active Tracking Categories at a time. When the Primary org has room, you can use Mayday HQ to create a new Tracking Category. This will also be created in every other org which has room to create a new Tracking Category.

For an existing Tracking Category, you can create a new Tracking Option in every org which has that category using the option here:

Clicking "Save Tracking Categories" will write the changes back to Xero.

Choosing a new Primary Org

At any time, you can change which org is the Primary using the option in the header row:

Doing this will automatically update the page and compare every org to the Tracking Category setup in that new Primary org.
